We invite you into Tita's kitchen, where stories unfold beside pots and memories blur like steam rising from a pan.

Yesterday + Today + Tomorrow is a *mostly* hands-on exhibition of book design by CalArts alumni, faculty and students alongside the work that influenced them. Each designer was invited to submit two books designed by them and two books that inspired their work (not designed by them). Nested between the books in the exhibition, CalArts MFA GD student work explores design for reading spaces from the page to the screen and beyond. This one-day exhibition and event features a keynote presentation by Lorraine Wild and Ching Xiaoqing Wang of Green Dragon Office, and book presentations by  alumni Becca Lofchie (GD MFA 20) and Silas Munro (GD MFA 08) . 

This concert celebrates the life of our School of Music alum Mage Lockwood, who passed away earlier this year. She was an incredible guitarist and composer. Peers, friends, and faculty will perform music in homage to her and some of her videos will be projected and her music played.

Located at the Wild Beast; The CalArts Contemporary Vocal Ensemble presents “Bring Me Little Water,” vocal music from a resilient world. It is a moment to connect, to heal, and to recharge

CalArts Percussion Ensemble performs new music by Portuguese composer António Pinho Vargas; Free Improvisation Ensemble discovers new noises and notes in real time.

Tour and talk with the team of WonderWorks, Inc., a full service design and production company specializing in spacecraft and astronaut costume, model, and set fabrication serving the film, theme park, and museum industries. And then visit exhibits of renowned Los Angeles space and science museum Griffith Observatory. Engage with space and storytelling through the lenses of research and production design.

Faculty concert located at the Sharon Disney Lund Theater; featuring Luigi Nono: La lontananza nostalgica utopica futura, Madrigale per più “caminantes” con Gidon Kremer (1988-89), for violon solo and eight-track tape.

World Music Collective is a yearly celebration of world music at CalArts! This year, we will have live music and dance from Indonesia, West-Africa, Cuba, India, Persia, Japan and many more places. Come to the Gamelan Room (A114) for a phenomenal evening!

How complex is simple, how simple is complex? Sonic Boom performs “simple” rock music by XTC, The Sonics, Maudlin of the Well, Lou Reed, Broadcast, The Stooges, GYBE, Ulrich Krieger, Adrian Clark, Quinn Madison, Apaar Mehra, and Sonic Boom.

Located in MOD Lobby & by D300 gallery entrances; Market features unique, handcrafted creations from CalArts student and alumni artists, as well as local SCV makers—art, crafts, knits, jewelry, clothing, zines, prints, ornaments, pottery... Open to the public to attend.
