Born out of meditative vocal and movement improvisation in the Mediterranean Sea, La Bonne Mer is a Wave Cave video immersion and installation. Filmed in Marseille, France, the piece explores Mother Earth as represented by the Sea (la mer), and the divine Mother Mary (la mère) as she is displayed in the Notre Dame de la Garde Basilica (nicknamed la “Bonne Mère”). Within this observance of archetypes, we ponder the deconstruction of patriarchal notions of “creator.”
