The School of Critical Studies is pleased to announce the Fall 2025 Aesthetics and Politics Lecture Series, “New Problems”. The theme for this semester is “The future of ‘the problem’ is the problem of the future.”

Dr. Dot Donovan (they/them). Dot comes to CalArts by way of Denver, but grew up in Southern California. They are the Reference & Instruction Librarian, and liaison to the School of Critical Studies. Dot has skills in instruction, special collections and archives, and conservation.

They have a masters in Library & Information Science from the University of Denver, a doctorate in Writing & Literature from the University of Denver, a masters in Literary Arts from Brown University, and a bachelors in English from the University of Iowa where they also took graduate courses at the Iowa Writers’ Workshop. They have published one book. Dot has been teaching since 2009. In their spare time they read, write, and cause trouble on bikes.
