At California Institute of the Arts, we don’t train students to become artists.

That may sound like a contrarian message for one of the country’s leading visual and performing arts colleges, so we’ll clarify: Those who are accepted into our rigorous programs are already artists. Our faculty work with students to hone their skills in an open environment, experiment with new approaches to their work, and critically engage with the rest of the CalArts community as well as the world beyond their studios.
