About the Institute
CalArts is committed to a diverse and equitable environment in the workplace, within the classrooms, studios, and beyond.
Equity and inclusion are indispensable to the vitality of CalArts, where the community constantly strives to deepen intercultural awareness and provide robust support mechanisms for students from increasingly varied backgrounds.
Students, faculty, and staff with concerns regarding issues of equity, accessibility, and inclusion at CalArts should address these issues with CalArts’ Institute Diversity Officer (IDO) and Title VI Officer Eva Graham.
The IDEA cooperative is led by and housed in the Office of the President. The cooperative exists to ensure that, as an institution dedicated to educating artists who create work that transforms themselves and others, community members can find opportunity and support at CalArts. Our programs and projects aim to guarantee that inclusion and excellence are among the many important aspects of the Institute’s educational endeavors, further supporting international artistic perspectives in doing so. The IDEA Office honors transparency in all measures and processes by encouraging financial support through grants, philanthropy, and open budgeting via the Institute’s established processes.
