School of Music Visiting Artist - MoRuf

MoRuf is a multidisciplinary creative rooted in Jersey and culture—an artist, musician, curator, director, community builder, and storyteller. Hailing from Irvington, New Jersey, MoRuf relocated to Los Angeles with his family in 2023 to expand his creative vision. His music blends alternative hip-hop, R&B, and jazz, with a catalog including Garden State of Mind: Ready To Live, Shades of Moo, and Moolodic, featuring SZA, Foushee, Mick Jenkins, Vic Mensa, and more.

Beyond music, MoRuf runs SomeJazzPlaying, a viral Instagram platform celebrating jazz through humor, visual memes, live events, and collaborations with creatives like Jeff Staple. He also founded Love Over Everything, hosting an annual back-to-school drive in Irvington for the past five years.

Through his art and community work, MoRuf’s infectious energy continues to connect people, culture, and creativity.
