Philip Meyer is a music technologist and educator who develops tools and techniques for artists in pursuit of new musical forms. His work includes the Rhythm and Time Toolkit, a modular composition package for Max MSP; a family of more than two dozen Max for Live devices for Ableton Live, and a library of educational videos on techniques for music composition in Max MSP and Ableton Live. Philip’s frameworks for understanding music developed through playful interaction with devices such as turntables, step sequencers, and digital audio workstations. In response, he makes technology with an acute awareness of the ways in which technology can shape and expand the artist’s field of possibilities. As a technologist, he has supported works by Sanaya Ardeshir, Daniel Lopatin and Nathan Salon, Milian Mori, Nate Mercereau, Samur Khouja, Miles Okazaki, Romi Morrison, and others. Philip also performs under his own name and releases music through his label Intermodal.
