Open Mike Eagle is a Los Angeles-based rapper, comedian, and podcaster who serves as the leading architect of “art rap,” a subgenre defined by its fusion of high-concept observation, self-deprecating humor, and alternative hip-hop sensibilities. Since his 2010 debut, Unapologetic Art Rap, the Chicago-born artist has built an expansive career that bridges the gap between the underground rap scene and mainstream media, notably co-creating the Comedy Central series The New Negroes. In late 2025, he released the critically acclaimed album Neighborhood Gods Unlimited, a deeply personal project exploring his upbringing in Chicago’s public housing and the fragmentation of modern identity. Entering 2026, Eagle has further expanded his cultural footprint as the Artist as Instigator in residency at the National Public Housing Museum and is currently headlining the “Neighborhood Gods International Tour” across North America and Europe.
