Private Educational Loans

Private educational loans are a resource for students and families who seek additional funding. Private educational loans require credit approval (a co-signer may be required) and the interest rates and repayment terms vary. We suggest that you apply for these loans only after you receive your offer of financial aid so that you can make informed decisions about if and how much to borrow. Please note that private loans may take up to 3-4 weeks to process, depending on the lender.

Graduate Students are encouraged to consider borrowing the Federal Graduate PLUS Loan before considering private educational loans.

Criteria Used in Selecting Lenders and How to Apply

CalArts does not promote any specific lender; students may select any lender that processes private educational loans. The abbreviated list of lenders on the Fastchoice webpages (below) represents lenders whom CalArts students have borrowed from in the past. Students should read and compare Truth in Lending Disclosure information before borrowing. Contact each lender for current, specific loan terms and conditions.
