To our community members,
Given the recent spread of the coronavirus across many parts of the country, CalArts has decided, out of an abundance of caution and under the guidance of public health organizations, to reduce group gatherings through early April. This prudent step is being taken in order to limit the potential close contact between individuals who might be carrying the virus and those who might be susceptible to contracting it.
As a result, the Office of Alumnx and Family Engagement regrets that we are canceling the following gatherings: Special Viewing of 50 + 50: A Creative Century from Chouinard to CalArts, March 15; CalArts on the Road: Austin/SXSW, March 15; and CalArts on the Road: Houston/USITT, April 3. We will not be hosting the Bay Area Bash at the GLAS Animation Festival on March 22. Please note, the GLAS Animation Festival is independently run from CalArts. You may check the GLAS website for updates at glasanimation.com.
We are sorry for any inconvenience these cancellations may cause to you but we hope that you understand why we have decided to take this step. The health of our alumni, students, faculty, staff, and friends, is of the utmost importance to us and we want to ensure that we are taking every precaution necessary to help them remain healthy. It is also important for us to do our part to help mitigate the spread of the coronavirus in our community.
If possible, we will reschedule the events for a future date. Again, we apologize for any inconvenience this has caused. Our events in April and May are still TBD.
If you have any questions about a cancellation, please email us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
