September 20: Conversation on Non-Citizen Artists, presented by the CalArts Mutual Aid Network (CAMAN), 5:00pm-6:00pm PTD

Featured contributors:

  • Geoff Trenchard
  • Barnett Cohen (Art MFA 14)

In this live-streamed conversation, Barnett Cohen (Art MFA 14), artist and activist, will engage in conversation with accomplished immigration attorney Geoff Trenchard on issues that concern non-citizen artists in the rapidly evolving landscape of the US today. What are the political rights of non-citizens in the US (Can I participate in protests? What can I post on social media?)? What public charge rules apply to non-citizens? What are sustainable, legal ways to be a nomadic artist working across borders? What are ways to volunteer for immigration justice? Audiences will have a chance to ask questions in real-time via chat.

Conversation on Art and Wellness is a virtual event supported by the CalArts Mutual Aid Network and the CalArts Office of Alumni & Family Engagement.
