How to Apply

Fill out online application and pay housing deposit by 11:59 pm PST on May 10, 2024.

  • New Students: Once you pay your tuition deposit, it will take approximately five days to get your CalArts credentials that you will need in order to login to your CalArts email account. You will be able to access the housing application through sso.calarts.edu and click on the app ‘Symplicity - Residence’
  • Returning Students: You can access the housing application through sso.calarts.edu and click on the app ‘Symplicity - Residence’

Electronically pay housing fee and deposit by 11:59 pm PST on May 10, 2024.

Two ways to pay (Links are also provided in the application itself):

  • Online Payment: From your checking or savings account, or credit card (Mastercard, VISA or Discover).
  • Bank Wire: If paying by wire transfer, please be sure to check with your bank for the cost of the wire. The bank usually deducts the cost of the wire from the amount of money that you send, which in some instances may cause your payment to be short. Please reference your name and student I.D. number in the wire.

Immunizations: In an effort to keep our community healthy, all students are required to have immunizations on file with the Student Health Office. For information on immunization requirements, please refer to Health Services. Students without these immunizations on file will not be allowed to move into the residence halls. For information on COVID, please check the Student COVID-19 Vaccination Policy. 

  • We can never guarantee housing but our goal is always to house as many students as we are able to based on safety and capacity during this time.

  • Priority will be given to first-time students to campus, first-year students (BFA 1, MFA 1 and Transfer students). Students seeking disability-related housing accommodation should refer to the Disability Services Office page for important information. 

  • Placement will start with on-campus housing options being filled first then off-campus housing options. Placement in campus housing is done through a lottery system. All students who apply by the deadline will be entered into the housing lottery again with priority going to first-time, first-year students. The results of the housing lottery will be shared through CalArts email on June 7th, 2024.
