Student Health Center

In support of the physical and mental health needs of the student artists in our community, CalArts has expanded Student Health Services (SHS). The Student Health Center (SHC) is located in D208 and provides students with easier access to care while still allowing for privacy during visits.

An on-site nurse provides general care, such as first aid for injuries, and treatment for minor illnesses and conferences on health problems. If it is necessary for a student to see an outside physician, they can attain a referral from the SHC for radiology, labs, and other related exams. Any referrals made by SHC will be charged to the student's health insurance plan.

Students Health Services has partnered with Sam Dixon Family Health Center (SDFHC), a non-profit 501(c)(3) Federally Qualified Health Center, to provide medical and sexual health services on campus in Room D-208. Their services are provided free to all students. Any referrals made by SDFHC will be charged to the student's health insurance plan. For students who present their own health insurance and are not covered by CalArts health plan, United Healthcare Student Resources, referrals and prescriptions will be provided directly to the student to arrange for care or obtain medication with a specialist or pharmacy covered under their insurance plan.  Appointments are encouraged but you are welcome to call us and if we have an open spot, we will do our best to accommodate you.
