New students, today’s the day you make your debut! Move into Chouinard and Ahmanson and begin setting the stage for your CalArts experience. Staff will be available to assist you as you settle into your new home.

Family & Friends Lounge Locations: Mom's Student Lounge in Chouinard Hall
While you’re getting settled, your family and friends can relax in Mom's Cafe. This lounge offers a comfortable space for them to unwind and reflect on the day's events.

Family Experience Tour - Chouinard Hall or Main Academic Building Locations: Mom's Student Lounge in Chouinard Hall or Main Building Reception Desk
Join us for a guided tour of the Residence Life facilities. This tour will give your family a behind-the-scenes look at where you’ll be living and learning.

Parent Lunch Locations: Steve's Cafe
Parents and families, enjoy a meal at Steve’s Cafe and meet other families. This lunch is a great opportunity to connect and discuss the exciting journey your students are embarking on.

Family Experience Panel Locations: Lund
Attend the Family Experience Panel at Lund. This session will provide valuable insights and answer any questions your family might have about life at CalArts.
3 pm - 5 pm
Welcome Reception for Families and Students Location: Main Gallery, Main Building
Join us for a reception in the famed CalArts Main Gallery to meet President, Ravi Rajan; Provost, Tracie Constantino; Executive Director of Alumnx and Family Engagement, Justin Gerboc; and other families from your student's school.
5 pm - 6 pm
Explore the Main Academic Building with a guided tour. See where your classes will be held and get a sense of the academic environment at CalArts.

RA Welcome (On Campus Residents Only) Locations: Chouinard Courtyard
Resident Assistants will introduce themselves and welcome you to your new home. This session is your first introduction to the supportive community at CalArts.
