On May 15, 2020, more than 400 graduates will celebrate the conclusion of their studies at CalArts and be conferred their degrees. However, due to the social restrictions of the COVID-19 pandemic, CalArts and the Office of Student Experience has decided to produce a virtual, livestreamed ceremony so that students, alumni, family, and friends can celebrate our graduates from the safety and comfort of home.
The physical graduation celebration, which will take place on campus, has been postponed until the weekend of Oct. 15-18, 2020. Unfortunately, many graduates will have moved on to professional careers or further schooling and may not be able to return to campus to participate. The May 15 virtual event will give every graduate the opportunity to officially mark this important milestone, hear words of encouragement from their school leaders and alumni guests, and enjoy a sense of finality to their hard work and dedication to their studies.
While we understand this is not ideal for our graduating class of 2020, the entire CalArts community has gone to great lengths to make this virtual event special for our graduates.
We encourage you to return to this page on May 15 at 6 pm PDT to watch the livestreamed ceremony.
