Program Description

Taught by CalArts faculty, alumni and students from the School of Art's Photography program, this class teaches high school students how to shoot, process and edit analog photographs in color and black & white. Students will also be introduced to the fundamental operations, techniques and critical vocabulary of digital photography. 

The program culminates in a showcase held at CalArts on May 25, 2019.

Sony Pictures Media Arts Program

SPMAP classes are offered at five locations in LA County. This class will teach a variety of visual art and animation techniques, such as life drawing, painting, stop motion animation, and claymation. Students will learn to use DSLR cameras, animation software (such as Adobe Animate and Dragonframe), and will produce their own short films. Students will be taught by professional teaching artists from California Institute of the Arts. 

This program is completely FREE for all participants.
Ages: 10-14*
*Some exceptions can be made
