Congratulations! CalArts Alumnus Andrew Stanton Wins Second Career Oscar for "WALL·E"
WALL·E, the latest all-ages blockbuster from Pixar Animation Studios and Walt Disney Pictures, was named best animated feature of 2008 at the 81st Annual Academy Awards. Andrew Stanton (Film/Video BFA 87), the writer-director of the breathtaking robot romance, was on hand at Hollywood’s Kodak Theatre to collect the golden statuette—the second of his career, following his win for Finding Nemo.
The Pixar/Disney film was also the first animated feature ever to receive an Oscar nomination for best original screenplay—written by Stanton and Jim Reardon (Film/Video BFA 87) from an original story by Stanton and Pete Doctor (Film/Video BFA 90). Other key credits included Ralph Eggleston (Film/Video 86), supervisor of the movie’s the astonishing production design, and John Lasseter (Film/Video BFA 79), who executive-produced.
