The Center for Life and Work at CalArts provides a variety of resources for students and alumnx to help them, as artists, chart their path to success and sustain themselves as creative leaders in the world.

The Center empowers artists to reach their creative potential by providing workshops, information sessions and a robust internship program.  

The office is committed to collaborating with internal, external and community partners to deliver a diversity of career knowledge and experiences.

Opp Fest (Opportunity Festival)

Formerly known as the "Career Fair", the Center for Life and Work has revamped this day to include a wider range of professional opportunities for CalArts students and alumnx. So whether you are a current student looking for a side hustle to get that supplemental income, a soon-to-be graduate looking for an internship or an alumnx looking for that next step in your career, the Opp Fest has a little something for everyone.

Life Skills Series

This Spring, The Center for Life and Work presents a series of workshops addressing students' questions on how to be a sustainable citizen and artist. 

  • Monday, April 15, 12-1 pm – Meal Prep and Budgeting Workshop: Join Chef Matt Clores (Chef de Cuisine of BOA STEAKHOUSE, Santa Monica) as he leads a workshop on creating healthy, enjoyable and cost-conscious meals for only $30 a week.
  • Wednesday, May 1, 12-1 pm – Time and Resource Management in the Performing Arts and Entertainment: Presented by the Actor's Fund and Career Transition for Dancers. This workshop teaches artists in any discipline how to manage their time and how to make empowering financial decisions to support their career and life goals.
