CalArts 2021 Graduation

California Institute of the Arts invites you to the 2021 Virtual Graduation Ceremony on Friday, May 14, 2021, at 6 pm PDT.

On May 14, 2021, more than 300 graduates will celebrate the conclusion of their studies at CalArts and be conferred their degrees. However, due to the social restrictions of the COVID-19 pandemic, CalArts and the Office of Student Experience have decided to produce a virtual, live-streamed ceremony so that students, alumni, family, and friends can celebrate our graduates from the safety and comfort of home.

The May 14 virtual event will give every graduate the opportunity to officially mark this important milestone, hear words of encouragement from their school leaders and alumni guests, and enjoy a sense of finality to their hard work and dedication to their studies.
While we understand this is not ideal for our graduating class of 2021, the entire CalArts community has gone to great lengths to make this virtual event special for our graduates.

We encourage you to return to this page on May 14 at 6 pm PDT to watch the live-streamed ceremony.

For Graduating Students only

Graduating Students can access information about the event and submission instructions for their personalized piece of the graduation ceremony on the ‘Class of 2021’ page on the Hub. This can be found by visiting hub.calarts.edu and clicking on the ‘Groups’ tab in the left-side menu. The ‘Class of 2021’ Group is under the Student Groups section.

Frequently Asked Questions

Any needed accomodations can be requested by reaching out to our staff on the Care and Wellbeing team by writing to Disability Services at dso@calarts.edu.

At this time, campus access is limited to academic purposes only and on a ‘by request’ basis, that is reviewed by the COVID Response team. We need to manage capacity limits for spaces within campus, and for the entire campus in order to comply with public health regulations through LA County.

At this time, we are preparing for a fully virtual event and ceremony. If public health regulations allow by early May, it is possible the Graduation committee will be able to program some sort of drive through experience for students on campus. There are no plans in the works at this time.

The save the date to the CalArts 2021 Graduation Ceremony will be emailed to the CalArts community and all graduating students on Monday, April 12th. Graduating students can share this digital save the date with family, friends and anyone they wish to invite to the graduation ceremony. The ceremony for family and friends will be hosted at www.CalArts.edu/graduation.

The complete recording of the ceremony will be available on the CalArts Graduation website after the ceremony.
