2020 Acting Audition Schedule

Students applying to our programs in Acting are asked to submit taped audition materials in consideration for Fall 2021. Select applicants will be asked to attend callbacks with faculty via Zoom or an alternate virtual platform. Students called back by faculty will be contacted directly.

CalArts will participate in the 2021 URTA Live Online Virtual Event for MFA Acting candidates. Applicants auditioning via URTA are still required to complete the online application.

BFA Program Interviews

Interviews for the BFA Experience Design and Production program are by invitation only. Students will be notified of a request for an interview after the completion of preliminary reviews by faculty, sometime in February. Prospective students must fulfill all admissions application requirements and submit the online portfolio by the general application deadline if they wish to be considered for an interview.

Interviews for Fall 2021 will be held via Zoom. Applicants will be contacted directly to schedule an interview once more information is available.

Graduate Program Interviews

Applicants will be contacted if an interview is requested by Faculty. Not all candidates will be invited to interview. Interviews may be held by phone, although an in-person interview is preferred when possible.

Prospective students must complete the admissions application requirements and the online portfolio to be considered for admission. The online application must be submitted before an interview will be scheduled.

CalArts School of Theater faculty will participate in URTAs in New York and Chicago and will meet graduate applicants across specific specializations of Design, Technical Direction, and Arts Leadership.  To see if your specific area will be represented at this event, please contact the Admissions Counselor.  All students are encouraged to apply to the institute directly.
