State of California Issues Travel Advisory as Cases Surge and Hospitalizations Remain High in L.A. County

This message was sent to all CalArts faculty and staff from the COVID-19 Compliance Taskforce.

Dear Faculty and Staff,

We are writing as the holidays are nearing to let you know that as of Friday, November 13, 2020 the state issued a travel advisory in advance of the holiday season. As COVID-19 transmission is increasing in many states and countries, those arriving, or returning to California, from other states or countries should self-quarantine for 14 days after arrival. During this time, people should limit their interactions to their immediate household. All Californians are encouraged to stay home or in their region and avoid non-essential travel to other states or countries.

Your safety is our priority and as you all make plans for the holidays, we encourage you not to travel unless it’s absolutely necessary. If you do travel out-of-state or country, as CalArts employees you will need to quarantine for 14 days prior to returning to campus. Employees should meet with their supervisor about their plans to travel and follow our travel policy as listed on our CalArts COVID-19 website.

Employees who need to travel for personal reasons through the end of winter break will be required to use accrued vacation, sick leave and/or unpaid personal leave while under the required 14-day self-quarantine.

Due to the nature of ever changing CDC, State and County policies this travel policy will be reviewed and updated for all new travel after the first of the year.

We wish you joy and good health throughout the holidays.
