Wildfire Update #4

CalArts will re-open and resume regular operations on Saturday, Oct. 26, including all events, activities and performances.
For those on campus this weekend, the hours of operation for Steve's Cafe are:
Campus Safety will continue to monitor the fire, traffic and air quality situation overnight; we will update you via text, email and social media should any significant changes occur.

Because the #TickFire situation is currently fluid, only at 5 percent containment and impacting freeway access and air quality in Santa Clarita,
CalArts campus will be closed and all classes and events are cancelled for today (Friday, Oct. 25) out of an abundance of caution.
Steve's Cafe will run weekend hours, opening 7:30 a.m. for breakfast and closing at 7 p.m.
Campus Safety and Facilities are keeping a close watch on any official messages from the city of Santa Clarita or the Sheriff's Department and will keep the CalArts community apprised throughout the day on any further action and air quality.
Wildfire Update #2

A brush fire was reported near Tick Canyon Road in Agua Dulce (approximately 18 miles from Valencia) on Thursday at approximately 1:45 p.m. As of 3 p.m., LA County Fire officials report the fire has grown to 850 acres. Another fire broke out in Castaic, north of campus, a short time later.
>> The CalArts campus is now closed (10/24/2019) and all events are cancelled for the rest of the day. Steve's Cafe will remain open for on-campus students

>> CalArts Administration will make a decision on campus classes for Friday, Oct. 25 by 5 a.m. on Oct. 25.

Wildfire Update: The Tick Fire in Agua Dulce
A brush fire was reported near Tick Canyon Road in Agua Dulce (approximately 18 miles from Valencia) on Thursday at approximately 1:45 p.m. As of 3 p.m., LA County Fire officials report the fire has grown to 850 acres.
While the CalArts campus is not in any immediate danger from the fire, the fire can be spotted from campus; smoke and ash are in the air.
Campus Safety and Facilities are keeping a close watch on any official messages from the city of Santa Clarita or the Sheriff's Department and will keep the CalArts community apprised throughout the day on any action and air quality.
If you need to leave CalArts or stay home to monitor the fire, please notify your school, office or supervisor of your situation.
