Summer Session 2021 Classes and Tuition

This message was sent to CalArts students from Provost Tracie Costantino regarding summer session enrollment and registration.

Dear Students,

I am writing to share exciting news with you about summer at CalArts! This summer session only, CARES Act funding is subsidizing our programming, so we are able to offer a special reduced price of $500 per class. Four classes are planned for the session running June 1 through July 23. Summer session enrollment is open to students who are currently enrolled, with priority by higher year level, then to students on Leave of Absence. Detailed information about priority registration will be sent by the Office of the Registrar.

Classes offered include:

  • CSCM-271S Human Body: Food to Function, taught by Michael Bryant for 3 units. BFAs + Critical Studies credit.
  • CSOC-378/CCST-378S Pursuing Happiness, taught by Niki Rousso-Schindler for 3 units. BFAs + Critical Studies credit. This class requires a passing grade in BFA level 100 series.
  • ICOM-101/MTEC-617 Media & Web Development, taught by Stedman Halliday for 3 units. BFAs + Critical Studies credit and graduate students.
  • IIDS-411/611 Funding Strategies for Artists, taught by Anjanette Maraya-Ramey for 3 units. BFAs and graduate students.

I encourage you to talk with your mentor and an advisor about these summer opportunities. This session provides good options for you to catch up on credits necessary for graduation, or add credits if you chose a part-time option this year.

Registration will begin April 12. More detailed information about the registration process will be sent by the Office of the Registrar on April 9. Please check the catalog for more information. Space is limited in each class.
