The following message was distributed to CalArts Students from the CalArts Office of Human Resources:
Dear Students,
We have received several questions about student workers and their employment during the suspension of on-campus classes at this time. As CalArts is taking precautions and practicing social distancing during this time, students who are not on-campus residents are not currently allowed on the campus. For now, this extends to student employees as well. We would like to remind students that there are no known cases affecting our campus community, but it is important that we do everything possible to prevent exposure to our students, faculty, and staff.
Supervisors will contact students who have on-campus employment to assist them in determining how best to move forward and inform them of how to complete their timesheets in order to be paid. Please note that students’ work assignments may differ than their norm; you may be temporarily assigned work with new departments. Students should hear from their supervisors today, Thursday, March 12, 2020, and no later than Friday, March 13, 2020. If you do not hear from your supervisor by 12 PM on Friday, March 13, please reach out to them for further information.
Thank you again for all of your diligence and cooperation. We will keep you updated as we learn more.
