LA Public Health Provides Some Updated Higher Education Guidelines

Dear CalArtians,

We are writing today with an important update from the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health (LACPH) concerning approval for restricted campus access to very limited higher-education spaces and activities. In-person instruction is not yet approved.

This update does allow us to plan limited access to designated spaces, such as labs, studios, equipment rooms, etc. The deans and program directors are working on such plans to ensure the health and safety of students, faculty, and staff and to remain in compliance with the strict public health regulations around use of such spaces. We will communicate more details prior to spring break.

Public health officials have recognized our request for students to have the spaces and equipment needed to develop as artists. We are delighted about this development, but repeat, in-person instruction is not approved and students will not be required to come to campus to complete coursework.

If you have any questions about what will be open on campus, or ideas about access in individual schools or programs, please email the COVID Implementation and Response Team at covidcompliance@calarts.edu

Be well.
