Alumnx Council Grants
Alumnx Council Grants are a way for the Institute to give back to alumnx artists through seed funding to lead projects, events and happenings that promote the alumni community’s sense of connection, collaboration, inclusion and impact on the arts. Proposals that are collaborative, experimental, reflecting our community’s diversity, and involving the participation of multiple alumnx are encouraged. This initiative values the partnership between CalArts, the alumnx community, and the Alumnx Council.
Grants may be applied toward expenses such as, but not limited to, production, equipment, rentals, supplies, hospitality, printing, promotions etc. Proposed projects should be open to/shareable with the alumnx community; weblinks, prints, exhibits, RSVP and/or registration (for events) are allowable and recommended for applicable projects. The goal is for the end product to be accessible to the alumnx community.
Ten grants of $250 each were awarded in the 2017-18 year. These grants are funded by the Office of Alumnx Engagement via the CalArts Fund, the primary vehicle by which alumni support their schools, scholarships, students and initiatives like this.
The Next Alumnx Council Grant Application Deadline will be in Fall of 2018.

Peer Knowledge Share Workshops
We welcome you to share your expertise on a particular topic with fellow CalArtians. Past topics include how to pitch your script, social media for artists, and maintaining your creative vision while managing professional relationships.
Workshops are presented on a volunteer basis and are hosted in Los Angeles or virtually. Presentations run 45 minutes with an additional 15-30 minutes for Q & A. Your workshop may be live streamed or recorded to share with the CalArts community. The Alumnx Office presents 2-4 Peer Knowledge Share Workshops a year and will move forward with complete submissions that best fit the needs and requests of the community.
