CalArts, Bijou Theater

17 Filles / 17 Girls
Delphine & Muriel Coulin
2011 / 90 min.

FILM/VIDEO: Inspired by the true story of high-school students in a Massachusetts fishing town who made a pact to get pregnant and raise their babies together, 17 Girls, is set in a French seaside village. It all starts with Camille’s announcement during gym class that she’s expecting a baby. The film intriguingly observes the teenagers’ often contradictory concepts of freedom, the future, parenthood, and autonomy.

This event is part of The Tournées Festival, the weekly series of new French films on campus.

Support for the Tournées Festival is provided by:

  • Cultural Services of the French Embassy in the United States / Centre National de la Cinématographie et l’Image Animée
