Join us in celebrating the Tim Disney Prize winners: Acclaimed writer Colum McCann and CalArts students Shan Wu (2018) and Silvi Naçi (2019).

Featuring an artist talk and Q&A with award-winning author Colum McCann. Reception to follow.

Born and raised in Dublin, Ireland, McCann lives in New York and teaches in the MFA Creative Writing program at Hunter College. He is the author if six award-winning novels and three collections of short stories. McCann has been the recipient of many international honours, including the National Book Award, the International Dublin Impac Prize, a Chevalier des Arts et Lettres from the French government, election to the Irish arts academy, several European awards, the 2010 Best Foreign Novel Award in China and an Oscar nomination.

Named for CalArts’ Chairman of the Board of Trustees, the Tim Disney Prize for Excellence in the Storytelling Arts celebrates original and courageous storytelling that illuminates the human condition and uplifts the human spirit. It stands for Tim’s commitment to make the world a better place through the unique powers of gifted storytelling. The Prize is awarded annually to a student and an accomplished arts professional.
