A concert of experimental and improvised music by current CalArts faculty, students, and alumni featuring three sets of music by Spiders with Kalashnikovs, placeHolder, and Feeney Chaplin Sumner.

Spiders with Kalashnikovs is a duo that makes electroacoustic experiments featuring Heather Lockie (viola, voice, & electronics) and Clay Chaplin (laptop). Their sounds range from blissful ambient textures to annoying, relentless textures of noises and bleeps combined with an occasional folk song or field recording.

placeHolder is a trio featuring M A Harms, Eric Lennartson, and Daniel Newman-Lesser. They make music that is sometimes a soft and simple droning on pump organs accompanied by folk melodies; other times it is a fury of feedback and rogue electronics; frequently it is an eruption of a joyous cacophony; and always it is something new, unexpected, and a complete departure from previous performances.

Feeney Chaplin Sumner is a trio that makes ambient electroacoustic improvisation. Tim Feeney, Clay Chaplin, and Davy Sumner coax bass shakers, computer code, vibrating sheet metal, field recordings, synth tones, and tuning forks into evolving drones, disparate characters, and patient textures. Patient, but like a wall is patient.
