Mark Pieterson is an artist, writer, arts administrator and curator based in Los Angeles. His research interests include social (re)production, economic and labor history, gender and sexual studies, aesthetic theory and their co-relations. His writing has appeared in Art in America, Sleek, Mousse, Texte zur Kunst, and X-TRA, as well as in exhibition publications.

Pieterson is a recipient of the 2023 Andy Warhol Foundation Art Writers Grant, focusing on conceptual practices of artists from the African diaspora. His work has been shown at 47 Canal (New York), The Power Station (Dallas), and The Dallas Museum of Art. His curatorial projects include the online exhibition “Diaries: Era of Good Feelings” (47 Canal) and Zoblazo (online radio which aired on Berlin Community Radio from 2015 to 2016).

In 2019 he founded Pieterson Writing LTD, a strategic communications and advisory practice that offers creative consultation with clients ranging from artists to galleries.
