Graduating DMA Public Talks

Jack Dettling’s Public Talk

This talk will focus on the use of the computer as a compositional/performative tool in just-tuned piano repertoire. The historical lineage of such repertoire will be traced, and implications for future work will be discussed.

Sarah Belle Reid’s Public Talk

This talk presents a unique approach to the development of electronic instruments and musical notation as interfaces for exploring temporal perception and co-creation. The presentation will discuss a number of creative projects that explore and exploit nonlinear time, circular causality, memory, and 'now-ness', through the use of active listening, feedback circuits, data conditioning, and interactive performance environments.
