A ritual of a kind, the infinite process of the I and the world as a unity. Andrea Soto and David B. Jang explore the relationship between human experience and the environment in their new collaboration, Earthbound Resonance. The soil, carrying presence, culture, and magic, becomes a conduit of real-time connection with the Earth. A soil synthesizer, responsive to external stimuli, creates a sound generated by the Earth’s mineral presence and moisture levels. Rooted in the inherent rhythm of transformation, this synthesis of soil and sound echoes the interplay of the universal human impulse and the environment, a ritual bridging repetition and meaning manifested through performance.

Andrea Soto is a first generation Mexican American movement and multimedia creator, performer, and collaborator based in Los Angeles. She graduated with a BFA in Dance with a minor in Digital Arts from California Institute of the Arts in 2022.  She researches the body as a temple of pleasure and truth system, holding space to move and create from our body organs, allowing them to become a speaking being. Andrea believes in the power of the collective and actively engages with artists from her community, encouraging a shared research process through collaboration. Creations of hers include her most recent project Lo que el fuego me dio (2023), OPEN FIELD (2022), DECAY (2022), and  a body not even a body (2021). With a deep reverence for her ancestry, her multidimensional practice invites audiences to embrace openness, inclusivity, and the boundless potential of personal and collective exploration. As a dancer, Andrea has performed with Julie Tolentino, Gerard and Kelly, Dimitri Chamblas, Rosie Herrera, Yusha-Marie Sorzano, Holley Farmer, Toru Shimazaki, Sam Wentz, Alexsa Durrans, Annalee Traylor, and EYIBRA; and has performed at Centre National de la Danse in Paris.
