CalArts Center for New Performance and Duende CalArts welcome back celebrated Mexican performance group
Lagartijas Tiradas al Sol for their second residency.
Their latest project,
El Camino Donde Nosotros Lloramos, seeks to investigate the migration of the people from the Mixtec Region in Oaxaca to the state of California.They explore both sides of Mixtec migration, telling the stories of those who have left and those who have stayed behind. They investigate what happens in the communities with children that grow up aware that somewhere North there is an unknown place where their family and neighbors now live, a place where they themselves may live someday.
El Camino Donde Nosotros Lloramos examines the nature of borders of all kinds and how and when we cross them.
Lagartijas Tiradas al Sol are artists Luisa Pardo and Gabino Rodríguez. In 2003 they began to develop projects as a mechanism to link work and life, to erase borders. Their work seeks to provide meaning, to articulate, dislocate, and unravel what is generally overlooked.
