Happy Asian American Pacific Islander Heritage Month! Here is what we have planned to celebrate all week long:

All Week

  • Physical and virtual catalogue of AAPI resources available through the Library
  • Two featured drinks at Tatum:
    • Monday/Wednesday/Friday: Thai Iced Tea
    • Tuesday/Thursday: Strawberry Matcha Latte
  • Asian & Pacific Islander Cuisine at Steve’s Cafe

Monday, May 2

Event: Paper Lantern Decorating 
Location: In front of Steve’s Cafe
Time: 12-2 pm
Description: Come kick off AAPI Heritage Week with light and good intentions. Decorate your own paper lantern with and write a wish you have for the rest of this year.

Tuesday, May 3

Event: Bolly-hop Dance Class
Location: A201
Time: 3:30-4:30 pm
Description: Stop by to learn some beginner friendly Bolly-hop choreography (Bollywood and Hip-hop fusion) led by Manya Aggarwal (BFA1 Dance)!   

Wednesday, May 4

Event: Sweet Celebration
Location: Lulu Courtyard
Time: 1-2 pm
Description: A celebration of AAPI musicians and artists showcased by DJ Ky (BFA 1 Music) while indulging in Asian and Hawaiian sweet treats through a DIY candy bar.

Thursday, May 5

Event: AAPI Gallery Night
Location: Mint Gallery
Time: 7-8 pm 
Description: Asian American & Pacific Islander (AAPI) students showcase their art in the Mint Gallery during API Heritage Month. The reception will be at 7PM with small appetizers. We will have artwork for the following artists:

  • Isha Khanzode (BFA4 Art)
  • Herry Kim (MFA2 in Art and Technology)
  • Natalie Leonffu (BFA 1 Experimental Animation)
  • Rose Tsang (MFA1 Art)
  • Yunni Lin (BFA3 Dance)

Friday, May 6

Event: Everything Everywhere All At Once Movie Night
Location: Regal Theater
Description: The Student Union is sponsoring 50 movie tickets for CalArts students to watch Everything Everywhere All At Once.  Students can pick-up a movie ticket from the Campus Life Office (D214) throughout this week between 9AM-5PM. This new sci-fi/adventure/action film with Asian American leading actors about an unlikely hero who must channel her newfound powers to fight bizarre and bewildering dangers from the multiverse as the fate of the world hangs in the balance when an interdimensional rupture unravels reality.
