    Constance Debré left her career as a lawyer to become a writer. She is the author of the trilogy of novels Playboy, Love Me Tender, and What's in a Name, all published in English by Semiotext(e). Her other novels include Un peu là, beaucoup ailleurs (winner of the 2005 Prix Contrepoint), L'Offense, and Manuel pratique de l'idéal Abécédaire de survie.

    She is a trained environmental social scientist committed to advancing socially and ecologically just approaches to managing natural resources and cultural heritage in both the US and Africa. Her research delves into the intersections of parks and protected area governance, resource sovereignty and the relationship between Race and nature. Her current work draws from political ecology, anti-imperialism and anti-colonial movements to confront the enduring coloniality of environmental conservation policies and support agrarian struggles in African American and African rural communities.
