About:

What was the world to me (catch) reimagines Shakespeare’s The Winter’s Tale into an original interdisciplinary dance theater piece. Drawing inspiration from both Shakespeare’s text and Lamentation as a form from which theatre originated, the work reflects on theatre as a space of colossal empathy and examines the threat communal catharsis poses to oppressive systems of control through a poetic lens. Rooted in a two-week rehearsal process engaging with the lineage of postmodern European theatre, particularly Pina Bausch, the piece unfolds as a highly collaborative, co-authored collage.

RUNNING TIME: 60 minutes
