Lori Husein has been appointed Senior Vice President of Finance & Administration at California Institute of the Arts, a position designated as the Institute’s CFO and Treasurer for the Board of Trustees. Husein comes to CalArts from UC Irvine (UCI), where she currently serves as Controller and Assistant Vice Chancellor of Accounting and Fiscal Services. Husein will assume her new position on Jan. 18.

She has more than 30 years of leading financial operations—experience that is critical to our success in managing the impacts of COVID-19 on our community and moving forward when we reach the other side of the pandemic.”
In addition to her work at UCI, Husein has enabled transformational change in higher education senior leadership positions, including Vice President of Finance and Administration at Sweet Briar College, Vice President of Finance and Administration and Treasurer of The Claremont Colleges Consortium, and University Vice President and Controller of Loyola Marymount University, and before for startups and through work at Deloitte & Touche LLP.
Husein earned her BA in Economics and Accounting at Claremont McKenna College and is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA). She is a member of the California Society of CPAs, the American Institute of CPAs, and the National Association of College and University Business Officers, NACUBO. Husein and her husband, Irfan, live in greater Los Angeles and have three daughters—Samira, Sarah, and Sofia.
