Previously, Clyne directed the mergers and acquisitions and business valuation practices of Hankin & Co. and Hankin Investment Banking.

 He was formerly the senior vice president and chief investment officer of Bank of America, NT&SA. Clyne also served Bank of America as head of the Personal and Court Trust Division and head of Executive Financial Counseling. He was the chairman of Bank of America’s Investment Committee and served on the board of directors of BankAmerica Trust Company of New York. Prior to joining Bank of America, Clyne practiced tax, securities, and acquisition law in Los Angeles.

Clyne is co-founder of The Maestro Foundation, a nonprofit corporation aiding emerging performance musicians. He is a member of the board of directors of the Pasadena Conservatory of Music. President Reagan appointed him in 1986 as one of the five founding members of the Federal Retirement Thrift Investment Board.
