Mecca Vazie Andrews is the Creative Director of Los Angeles based non profit The Movement movement an intersectional arts collective. mecca v a & the MOVEMENT movement was established in 2007 as an avenue for creative empowerment and development of experiential movement and sound experiments while also reflecting on aspects of social reform. Choreography, Performance, and Teaching Credits Include: LA LA Land, Joffrey Ballet School, BET Music Awards, Ricki Lake Show, Daft Punk, Geffen MOCA. She is also a former co-voice in Post Punk Band Sex Stains. With experimental performance commissions at spaces including 356 S Mission, These Days, Tongva Park, Angel’s Gate, MOCA, LACMA, Getty Museum, DubLab, Broad Museum, REDCAT, and the Whitney Museum. Mecca currently conducts international independent movement & performance research studies & continues to explore elemental aspects of life as they correlate with how we define performance, movement, dance theatre & folklore.
