Jake is an artist and researcher with a BS in Applied Statistics from the University of California, Davis, and an MFA in Music Technology from California Institute of the Arts. Drawing on his backgrounds in statistics and music, he explores how computational ways of thinking can become tools for artistic discovery.

His research focuses on symbolic music representation and music information retrieval, particularly how musical ideas and structures can be encoded, analyzed, and transformed through computational systems. His creative work puts these ideas into practice, exploring new possibilities for making, interpreting, and experiencing music through technology. His research has been published at the International Computer Music Conference (ICMC), the International Conference on New Interfaces for Musical Expression (NIME), and the Conference on AI Music Creativity (AIMC).
