Danielle Gibson is an Afro Latina writer and director based in Los Angeles, whose work dances between the surreal and the deeply human. With an MFA in Film Directing from Chapman University (’21) and a BS from Towson University (’17), Danielle crafts highly stylized comedies and satires that illuminate untold stories with a touch of the extraordinary. She expertly blends political commentary with lighthearted, candid narratives, creating worlds where the vibrant spirit of her characters takes center stage.

Her award-winning graduate thesis, “Red Velvet,” was available on American Airlines in-flight entertainment, and her short, “Plan Bee,” screened at the Creative Minds Marketing Block at Festival de Cannes. A proud member of the Alliance of Women Directors and a fellow in the AWD Mentor Latina Directors Fellowship, Danielle is dedicated to fostering creative and nurturing environments, from her role at CalArts School of Theater to her ongoing development of resonant, values-driven content.
