With over 20 years experience working in film, theater, and commercials, Camille Benda has enjoyed the process of supporting directors, producers, and actors in realizing their creative vision through costume. Camille’s research-led design approach started with a love of art history and languages, evolving into a passion for character and script interpretation once she discovered costume design for theater. 

Recent projects include costume design for Bad Sisters, a 10 part Apple TV+ series, and Bernhard/Hamlet at the Geffen Theater (2020). Upcoming projects include The Last Manhunt, a period feature starring Christian Camargo and Jason Momoa (November 2022).

Camille has an MFA from Yale School of Drama, and a Masters of Art from the Courtauld Institute in the History of Dress. Her first print book, Dressing The Resistance, published by Princeton Architectural Press (October 2021), celebrates the role of clothing, costume, and nudity in activism and protest. 

While working in the film industry across the US and Europe, Camille has also furthered her academic work with various talks on dress history and the philosophy of design at the Victoria & Albert Museum, The Costume Society, The Courtauld Institute, Stanford University, and University of California, Berkeley, and has developed and taught classes at SDSU and Studio Arts.
