2020-21 Academic Year Housing
The reality of COVID-19 has introduced profound logistical challenges as we uphold critical safety and health protocols. So we can meet best practices for physical distancing and to keep all students safe, the Institute has decided not to offer on-campus housing this fall. This was an exceptionally difficult decision, but we are following public health and safety guidelines for residential living and advice of experts. The way our residence halls were designed makes it very challenging to avoid close contact at entrances and exits, shared bathroom layouts, and compact gathering spaces and hallways.
CalArts has been working with several nearby hotels to secure spaces, and while there wasn't enough interest in the hotel rooms for CalArts to take on an entire hotel exclusively for our students, the hotels are offering a block rate to students.
CalArts has negotiated a rate of $59/night and depending on interest, the rooms will be either in the Santa Clarita Hampton Inn or the Fairfield Inn (or both). For more information regarding contract terms, amenities, group rate, and taxes please read this document. If you are interested in this offer please email us at firstname.lastname@example.org with your name, phone, current address, and the best time of day (please include timezone) to call, and we will have the hotel contact you directly.
While CalArts has negotiated this rate, your agreement for your stay will be with the hotel and you are responsible for complying with the hotel’s rules and regulations. This is not a CalArts’ property. Though CalArts staff will remain on-call, the hotel will not be staffed with an on-site CalArts representative.
If CalArts students and families have questions in the meantime, please email or call the Residence Life Office at email@example.com and 661-253-7897 (staffed Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. PDT).
