LA Dance Project is a dance company under the artistic direction of Benjamin Millepied, with a studio in Los Angeles’ downtown arts district. They partner with The Sharon Disney Lund School of Dance for workshops, performances, and more.
Founded in 1994 as the California satellite of the MAK – Museum of Applied Arts, Vienna, the MAK Center was established as an experimental and multidisciplinary hub for art and architecture. The center offers year-round programming of exhibitions and events that challenge “conventional notions of architectural space and relationships between the creative arts.”
Boasting 40,000 square feet of exhibition space, the Geffen Contemporary at MOCA in LA’s Little Tokyo Historic District hosts exhibitions, performances, and other events by contemporary artists. The space, formerly a police car warehouse, was renovated by the illustrious architect Frank Gehry.
The esteemed gallery’s downtown Los Angeles location is home to art exhibitions, events, and other activities in its unique architectural space. Hauser & Wirth was co-founded by former CalArts trustee Iwan Wirth.
This downtown Los Angeles performance and exhibition space, which shuttered its doors in April 2024, provided subsidized or free space for independent artists to exhibit their work, facilitate dialogs about equity and social justice in the arts, and conducting research groups. NAVEL hosted hundreds of public programs and events for the LA arts scene over the course of its decade-long run.
REDCAT is the Institute’s multidisciplinary center for innovative visual, performing, and media arts in downtown Los Angeles. Situated in the Walt Disney Concert Hall complex, this contemporary arts center presents innovative exhibitions, performances, screenings, and other events.
Launched in 2019, Frieze Los Angeles is an annual art fair celebrating LA’s dynamic culture and its impact on visual arts throughout the world. Frieze LA offers an expansive program of installations from international galleries and collaborations with various nonprofits.
