A written artist statement is very important in the admissions process and should address the following questions:

At CalArts, we welcome performers and characters of all gender expressions and identities. You do not need to identify or present as the gender identity of the character they are representing.

Upon completing your application, you will be able to sign up for an audition date and location. Please bring one (1) printed copy of your headshot (portrait orientation preferred) and resume to the audition.

Monologue Requirements:
Note: Those who reside within the 48 contiguous United States or the District of Columbia must attend a live in-person audition in Los Angeles, New York City, or Chicago. There are no exceptions.
In order to be approved for a virtual audition, you must qualify by meeting one of the following criteria:
1. You are an international student residing outside of the contiguous United States.
2. You reside in Alaska, Hawaii, or Puerto Rico, outside of the contiguous United States.
