Paul Kyle is a technologist, artist, and educator with over 30 years in digital video and post-production. Faculty and Lead Technical Specialist in the School of Film/Video at CalArts since 2010, he teaches Color Grading and Post Production in the degree program and through Extended Studies, developed winter session courses on AI and the Moving Image, and is an instructor on Coursera’s Art of Filmmaking specialization. He serves as elected Special Faculty Representative on the Academic Council.
 
As a video artist, Paul has exhibited in New York City, Los Angeles, San Francisco, and China. He has also served as technical specialist on major works including a full video installation with William Kentridge at Marian Goodman Gallery, NYC, and digital post production for Shirin Neshat and Yoko Ono. He is a Blackmagic Design Certified Training Partner and contributing author on Apple’s Pro Training Series.
 
Paul’s clinical psychology training in mindfulness-based and expressive arts therapy informs both his teaching and his current work, which applies AI tools to creative systems, exploring signal processing, constraint-based design, and cross-domain thinking at phasespace.co.
