Mary Claire Garcia (she/her) is a native Angeleno, working actress, singer, and phonetician. She is a VASTA member and an MFA graduate of CalArts in Acting, with a focus in Speech Pedagogy under the tutelage of Dwight Bacquie.
For the past decade, she’s been an associate and guest faculty member at various acting studios in Los Angeles. Mary Claire actively coaches in acting, script analysis, audition prep, and accent acquisition. Her clients range globally, both privately and on set, from actors to comedians, public speakers, politicians, professional athletes, broadcasters, ESL speakers, and corporate professionals.
After studying the Bel Canto technique as a youth, she then explored the International Phonetic Alphabet (IPA) throughout her undergraduate and graduate studies.
Training: completion of all Knight-Thompson Speechwork (Andrea Caban, Julie Foh, Tyler Seiple, and Cynthia DeCure), extensive Linklater Voice Method (Fran Bennett), Denise Woods’ Voice and Dialect Coaching Track, Alexander Technique (Andrea Stark and Babette Markus), Edith Skinner’s Speak With Distinction (Dwight Bacquie, Mary Lou Rosato, Deborah Ross-Sullivan, and Damian D. Lewis), Roy Hart and Barrantes Voice System (Rafael Lopez-Barrantes), and Fitzmaurice Voicework (Chelsea DuVall and Christine Menzies).

During both fall and spring semesters, Mary Claire teaches core performance curriculum Speech: Accents, Dialects & Phonetics courses to all BFA3 actors.
