Ed Barguiarena is a composer, producer, and sonic storyteller based in Altadena, California. For over three decades, he has explored the intersections of music, sound, and perception—scoring documentaries, producing in the studio, and creating immersive sound-based experiences across film, theater, dance, and public spaces. A Sundance Institute Composer Fellow with support from the National Endowment for the Arts, his work is guided less by genre than by curiosity: about sound itself, about people, and about what happens when they meet.

As an educator, Ed emphasizes listening as much as technique. He invites students to treat sound as a living, expressive force—one that carries emotional weight, cultural memory, and the power to connect us. His practice spans film scoring, song production, and collaborations with spoken-word and live performance, always returning to the idea that sound is an architecture built for feeling, and an invitation to shared humanity.
