Information & Responsibilities

This position is an application development generalist. The Programmer Analyst is responsible for the design, development, and maintenance of web applications using Microsoft development technologies as well as HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript.  The Programmer Analyst, as part of the Administrative Computing team, also supports CalArts’ Ellucian Colleague ERP platform.  This position is responsible for providing an exceptional customer experience.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
•    Design, develop, and implement new web and database applications
•    Ensure the security, integrity, and performance of the development, staging, and production applications and databases
•    Perform regular QA testing of code from peers within the department
•    Maintain a well-documented codebase
•    Maintain contemporary database, security, and development best practices
•    Migrate web applications from legacy code to .NET (C#, MVC)
•    Follow and maintain Application Development’s standards, policies, and procedures
•    Respond, update, prioritize, and track customer problems using a ticket system
•    Partner with Network Operations and Customer Care teams to maintain regular flow of information and troubleshoot issues that may arise
•    Partner with institute constituencies during development and maintenance of projects
•    Participate in ongoing training to stay alongside product, service, and policy changes
•    Maintain a positive, helpful, constructive attitude and work relationship with faculty, students, professional staff, and the CalArts community at large
•    Install new database and application software
•    In addition to the position responsibilities mentioned above, the individual has the responsibility to carry out unique tasks as requested by their superiors

Requirements

•    Excellent organizational skills, including the ability to prioritize and to manage multiple tasks simultaneously in a complex environment
•    Moderate level knowledge of ASP.NET
•    Moderate level knowledge of C#
•    Moderate level knowledge of OOD
•    Moderate level knowledge of Database-Driven Web Applications
•    Knowledge of SDLC
•    Knowledge of Best Practices and Design Patterns
•    Knowledge of creating N-Tier Applications
•    Knowledge of Visual Studio 2015+
•    Knowledge of .NET MVC
•    Knowledge of HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript and by extension, JQuery
•    Knowledge of SQL Server 2008+
•    Outstanding oral and written communications
•    Outstanding attention to detail
•    Ability to lift and carry up to 50lbs
•    A willingness to travel to remote sites for system installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting

Qualifications

•    Bachelor’s Degree in a related field and 2 years’ experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience
•    Experience with higher education ERP systems such as Ellucian Colleague preferred
•    Experience troubleshooting code and migrating legacy code to modern standards
•    Experience Integrating 3rd Party and RESTful APIs
•    Experience with Source Control systems (such as Team Foundation Server)
•    Experience with SharePoint 2013, Development, and Administration a plus
