Information & Responsibilities

SUMMARY

Reporting to the Director of Enrollment Management Systems and working closely with the rest of the senior enrollment team (Vice President of Enrollment Management, Executive Director of Admissions, Director of Financial Aid, Director of International Student Services and Programs, the Associate Director of Enrollment Management Communications is responsible for developing, implementing, and managing strategic marketing and communication plans to achieve the Institute’s undergraduate and graduate enrollment goals.

The Associate Director of Enrollment Management Communications plays a critical liaison role between the Admissions and Marketing & Communication department, and other key enrollment partners, to ensure a collaborative approach to communicating and delivering a cohesive CalArts message and brand in all public-facing modes of communication including digital, print, web, email, video, and social media platforms.

Requirements

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS (including but not limited to):

  • Create an annual marketing strategy and communication plan in collaboration with Enrollment Management leadership and all other partners (as appropriate).
  • Brainstorm creative growth strategies with Enrollment Management leadership and academic program leadership to support enrollment objectives.
  • Manage, build, and execute all Admissions and Enrollment email, text communication and campaigns using the Admissions CRM (Slate).
  • Work with the Admissions, Financial Aid, and International Students teams to strategize, write, and edit appropriate content to engage prospective students, applicants, admitted and deposited students. Anticipate needs of prospective students and build campaigns to address their concerns. Target and engage new prospective students with emphasis on diversity and inclusion. Develop and implement new communication streams for all relevant populations.
  • Act as the liaison between the Enrollment Offices and the Marketing &Communications department. Maintain constant communication between the offices to promote maximum exposure across media platforms and collaboration of efforts.
  • Work together on strategy and execution of marketing and communications plans. Partner on data acquisition, including Slate Ping and Facebook Pixel. Partner on SEO strategy and execution.
  • Partner with other relevant offices on communications to newly accepted students in order to support meeting enrollment goals.
  • Strategize, write, design, and format marketing assets for applicant portals, social media platforms, vendor partners, and email communication.
  • Review all Admissions, Financial Aid, and International Students webpages to ensure accurate, timely content and liaise with Marketing & Communications to make edits while adhering to institutional branding guidelines.
  • Analyze the success of all communication, marketing, and advertising campaigns to determine effectiveness, identify weaknesses/areas where improvement is needed, and potential opportunity for future efforts. Make recommendations for future improvements, partnerships, campaigns, based on analysis of campaign data, applicant data, and national trends. Explore new ways to develop and deliver content and attend conferences and webinars to stay informed of new trends and opportunities.
  • Research and implement communications platforms and technologies.
  • Supervise student workers on marketing and communications projects, including social media platforms, text messaging platforms, and more.
  • Guide Admissions, Financial Aid, and International Students staff on use of Slate Deliver and other communications platforms in order to best achieve their goals.
  • Stay current with industry best practices, emerging technologies, and trends for reaching targeted audiences where they are online; share insights with internal and partner teams.

Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Ability to articulate and express the unique community and culture of CalArts, as well as a demonstrated commitment to the mission and values of the Institute.
  • Strong background in both admissions recruiting, marketing and/or communications.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Prior experience with Slate, including Slate Ping and Slate Deliver, is highly preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing strong creative work from beginning to completion.
  • Ability to organize, plan, and implement large complex communication plans.
  • Experience in CSS, HTML, Java, Facebook Pixel & Facebook Business, Google Analytics, liquid markup, responsive web code, etc. preferred.
  • Experience with social media advertising (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube, etc.)
  • Familiarity with generating and analyzing reports that measure effectiveness of communication efforts.
  • Demonstrated experience working and communicating inclusively and effectively within a broadly diverse community of faculty, staff, and students.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • A minimum of 3 - 5 years of progressive experience in admissions/enrollment, marketing and/or communications.
  • Slate CRM experience or equivalent required.

$70,000 - $85,000 a year
