Orientation & Move-in Date Updates

Dear CalArts Students,

In anticipation of the excessive heat and to ensure your comfort and safety, we have adjusted the schedule for your arrival. We are delaying the fall 2022 move-in for new and returning students, including international students, until Sunday, September 4, beginning at 9 am.

As we shared yesterday, the Los Angeles County Health Officer issued a Heat Warning as high temperatures have been forecast for the Santa Clarita Valley lasting throughout the week, including temperatures expected to reach 110 degrees this weekend. This unprecedented heat wave has coincided with an issue in our electrical systems that supply power to our HVAC/air conditioning systems across the campus, including the residence halls.

Our facilities team and contractor are working around the clock and we plan to have the residence halls cooled by Sunday, September 4.

Rest assured that our Student Experience’s Orientation team is working diligently to update activities to ensure everyone’s comfort and safety. All updates are published to the orientation website. Please monitor the orientation website for updates to the schedule and ongoing changes.
